Trader Joe’s Haul- Late September

So yes, I went to Trader Joe’s again.

I usually don’t go to Trader Joe’s more than once a month (sometimes less than that), but I have been liking it more and more lately. It is becoming one of my favorite grocery stores. The variety of products they offer is great because you find some really unique items. Continue reading “Trader Joe’s Haul- Late September”

Sam’s Club Mini Haul- September

In our home it’s just the two of us, but I still love shopping at Sam’s Club and Costco. I know everything is made to feed a family of 10 or something, but whatevs.

This week we went to Sam’s Club mostly for fruits and vegetables. Look at us, being responsible adults. We got avocados, oranges and bananas as usual.  Tommy will eat whole avocado with just a little salt on it. He loves them! The little cherry tomatoes looked good too, so we picked those up and have been eating them in salads. The plums were sweet and firm. And my dates, ahhh… I am obsessed with dates for smoothies. Natural Delights Medjool Dates are my favorite!Continue reading “Sam’s Club Mini Haul- September”

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes with Walnuts

Good Morning!

I’ll give you a minute to focus on these words while having those big, buttery, fluffy, walnut and brown sugar laced pancakes in front of you. I know it’s hard, it is for me too.

Seattle Trip: Part 1

Seattle, Washington, I love you.

Let’s rewind… I visited Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Colombia for the first time with my husband, Tommy, and my younger sister, Dani, this year! Loved, loved, loved it! We were there at the end of January 2014.

So since my blog is new, I will be adding a few travel posts from trips I have taken recently.

My husband and I have the travel bug. We love to get out and see new places every chance we get, even though I have a mini breakdown pretty much every time I have to pack. Sorry hubby. I don’t know what it is about me, but I am never prepared in advance. Sometimes (most of the time) I procrastinate, but then sometimes I think I have everything I need, and I think I will just put it all in my suitcase and go no problem. BUTTT NO. Next thing I know it’s 2 AM the night before we leave, and I am exhausted, and I want to give up, and… well it gets done okay?

Currently I am in love with exploring the US. There is so much to see here in our beautiful country.

Here I am with my husband at Pike Place Market, this iconic place was our first stop. We were bundled up because it was chilly and drizzling a little. I’m so glad it rained a little bit, because when I think of Seattle I picture it cold, and I picture rain, and that is exactly what I got to see when we arrived.Continue reading “Seattle Trip: Part 1”

Spicy Sriracha Soy Edamame

Have I mentioned that I love spicy food? I have a problem. Most food is just not complete for me without some spiciness. Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce is one of my favorite hot sauces, and I try to add it to everything!

My husband on the other hand, is not a fan of spicy food at all! But I ignore his disapproving looks and add my hot sauce anyway. For some reason though, he does like Sriracha sauce sometimes… in small amounts that is. Sriracha is just so flavorful. You get a little bit of garlic, a little sweetness, and a whole lot of heat. Edamame AKA soybeans are fun to eat, and they are a good source of protein. When you add in some Sriracha and soy sauce they are addicting!Continue reading “Spicy Sriracha Soy Edamame”

Grilled Mexican Street Corn

I love Corn! I grew up loving Mexican street corn, you know, the kind that’s sold out of a little cart, or van, or at a random park. That’s totally normal for everyone right?! Well, maybe it’s not normal for everyone, but where I grew up in Southern California it is.

I’m talking about delicious, buttery, mayo-ee, cheesy corn. This is how I make it at home, and let me tell you… It’s delicious! I keep it true to the original Mexican flavors I love so much, but give it my own twist by grilling the corn and making a chili lime mayo that is spread all over the warm corn and melts right into all the little nooks.

Camping Food Ideas

Last weekend we celebrated my husband’s birthday with a camp out at a local regional park. Since we both love good food, we had to make sure there was plenty to eat!

Here are some of the foods we served for our friends and family. Continue reading “Camping Food Ideas”

Churro Cupcakes

This is my first blog post on Wife Life Kitchen, and I’m making box mix cupcakes. OMG.

Wait, this is my FIRST blog post on Wife Life Kitchen, and I’m making box mix Churro Cupcakes! Yay!

I love to bake, and I confess that sometimes I love using boxed mixes. They are so easy to use, they always turn out great, and they remind me of my childhood. Cakes and cupcakes are the first thing my mom taught me to make on my own when I was a little girl. I have vivid memories of stirring all of my ingredients in a big bowl, putting them in the oven and watching my cake or cupcakes magically puff up into soft deliciousness. It was amazing! That’s where my love of baking and cooking began.

Thank you, mom. Continue reading “Churro Cupcakes”

Trader Joe’s Haul- September

Grocery shopping makes me happy, and I LOVE going to Trader Joe’s!

It’s exciting to go out and find new items to bring home and make great food with. Trader Joe’s is really nice, because they have so many items that are natural and organic for a good price. Here are some of the items my husband and I picked up during our last visit. Some of the items are favorites that I get almost every time I go, but most of them I am trying for the first time. I was feeling adventurous!
